93.1 WPOC, Baltimore's Country Station.

WPOC is a radio station in Baltimore. It broadcasts country music on FM broadcasting. (FM 93.1) I enjoyed listening to it as well as "Wash FM" during driving. Today, let me tell about my favorite country music I got from WPOC.
Once I listened this "Travelin' Soldier" by Dixie Chicks, I was captivated by beautiful melody of acoustic guitar and violin soon. On top of that how wonderful harmony they make! I couldn't understand what they were singing in English, but I vaguely felt it was a bit sad song. I found the meaning of this song was really sad as i felt, after I had checked the lyrics on website. Sadly, they received a heavy bashing because they criticized former President Bush. I was sad to see that their music CD were stamped on by many people. But they got over it by they had won many categories at Grammy Awards in 2007.

WPOC(FM 93.1)はボルティモアのカントリーミュージックを放送するラジオ局。Wash FM(これもワシントン地域のFM局。)同様、ドライブ中それを楽しんだ。今日は私のお気に入りのカントリーミュージックを紹介します。
Dixie Chicksが奏でるこのTravelin' Soldierを聞いた時、ギターとバイオリンの美しい旋律に心を奪われた。ハーモニーがすばらしい。英語なので意味が分からなかったけど、なんとなく寂しい歌だということだけは感じた。歌詞をネットで調べたらこれが哀しい歌だということがよく分かった。 残念な事に、彼らはブッシュ元大統領を批判したことで酷いバッシングを受けた。彼らのCDが踏みつけられているのをテレビで見て残念に思った。しかし、２００７年に" I'm Not Ready To Make Nice"でグラミー賞多部門を獲得し見事復活した。
By the way, I like this country music, too. It's "No shoes, No shirts, No problems" by Kenny Chesney. I like the relaxed tastes that country music but feel like in resort. My husband sometimes sings it as "No shoes, No pants, No problems".
No pants is no problem? Oh no, that's a big problem! , like the below.

Kenny Chesney の"ノーシューズ、ノーシャツ、ノープロブレム"と言う歌も好きだ。カントリーだけどリゾートっぽいのんびりした感じがいい。けど、旦那はたまにそれを"ノーシューズ、ノーパンツ、ノープロブレム"と歌う。ノーパン、ノープロブレム？そいつぁビッグプロブレムだろうが！

To fight against influenza

Ahhh...... I've finally been recovered from bad cold. The persistent coughing has been calmed down, but I still have a cracking voice like a young boy..... It is said that 97% of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 is tolerant to Tamiflu now, therefore we are apprehensive of pandemic flu. How terrible! あぁぁ... やっと回復しました。しつこい咳は落ち着いたけどまだ声がかすれてます。現在、97％のAソ連型インフルエンザウイルスがタミフル耐性らしいですね。ゆえに世界規模の爆発的流行が懸念されています。おっそろしいなぁ。
とにかく皆様ご自愛くださいませ。 インフルエンザと言えば、フルショットしました？
Flu shot, people call having a vaccination for influenza as "flu shot" in the US. It was the first time for me to hear it as "flu shot", so when I was asked about it I thought it was referring as hitting a ball as forcefully as we can in the round of golf. Oh,, we call it as "Full shot".
アメリカではインフルエンザの予防接種のことをflu shot (フルショット、厳密に言うとフルーショットかな。) と言うらしい。これを初めて聞いた時、私はFull shot, ボールを力一杯打つ事、すなわちゴルフのフルショットかと思ったわ。。。
If we got a flu shot in Japan, we have to go to the public health institutions as hospital or health center and so on. (except for medical checkup at the company or school) As you know, we are made to wait for a long time.
But we can have it varied places in the US. I was very surprised to see that people got a flu shot in the grocery store. Yeah, we can have it while shopping. How multiple function American grocery stores have! (but I don't agree with medical staff giving a shot in front of the meat corner or fish corner in the grocery store. I feel like... it's not so much clean.) And I've heard that there is an early-morning drive-through vaccination in America. it sounds like drive-through at MacDonald's. How easy!
日本で予防接種をする場合、病院や保健所のような然るべき機関に行かないとならない。(会社、学校などの集団接種を除く。）これが結構待たされるんだよなぁ。 しかし、アメリカではいろんな場所で受けられる。スーパーマーケットで予防接種をやっているのを見たときは驚いた。 買い物がてらに予防接種ができるなんて、なんと多機能なんだアメリカのスーパーマーケットは！(だが、精肉コーナーや鮮魚コーナーなどの生ものを扱う売り場前でやるのはどうなんだろう...。気分的に微妙。） 中には早朝ドライブスルー予防接種なるものもアメリカにはあると聞いた事がある。もはや朝マック感覚だ。手軽だなあ。

It is not too much to say that Washington D.C. is in the spotlight from all over the world. Today, I scanned a picture of D.C. , so let's see Washington D.C. from the sky. 
Oh sorry..... I was going to write about DC, but it's hard for me to do it now, because I've been sick since last week......... My voice is cracking and I've been suffering from a persistent dry cough.. Because I have no high fever and any inflammatory symptoms, so I don't think it's influenza. speaking of persistent dry cough, I wonder if I've caught walking pneumonia again...... It's one of the main symptom.
I'm terribly sorry, but let me have a rest until I get over it.
Everybody, don't catch a cold. Take care of yourself please please!!
Instead, let me put on a movie I made. It's a document of trip in Peru. I'm going to write about it in the future.
9 hours bus trip to Lake Titicaca from Cusco.
ワシントンDCの事を書こうと思ったけど、どーも先週から風邪が治まりませぬ。。。かすれ声としつこい空咳に悩まされています。高熱や炎症性症状がないのでインフルエンザでは無いと思うんだけど。。しつこい空咳といえば、またマイコプラズマ肺炎(アメリカではWalking pneumoniaと言うらしい。)にかかってしまったのかなぁ。検査した訳ではないので何ともいえないけど。。。 んなもんでちょっと休みまっす。
代わりにペルーを旅したときの動画を編集したのでUpします。クスコからチチカカ湖へ、バス９時間の旅。よかったら見てみてくださいね。

At O'Hare International Airport in Chicago 3

TransferAfter going through the Custom, just did check in, and I would be all right.
On the way to the check in counter, I saw people waiting to get their suitcase checked up by X-ray. This is what we have to do before check in. When I saw it I thought all passengers must be done it.
But it was an unnecessary check for me, because I had already done it at Narita airport.
Stupidly, I did it again. I had no doubt, rather, I thought I should have cooperated to maintain safety for America. Too bad....... it was a quite long line of people, plus, officer's job was as slow as a snail.
Hurry up..... Hurry up.... Hurry up!! I shouted so in my mind.
When I finished the unnecessary security check the airplane to Washington DC had already left!
Waaaaahhhhh----!!!! I didn't know what to do. I was too shocked to do anything for a while. My situation was exactly like this picture.
I can't hear.( I can't catch English.)I can't speak.( I can't speak English.)
I can't see. ( I can't read English.)
税関を通ったらあとはチェックインのみ。そうすりゃ万事うまくいったのに。
チェックインカウンターへ向かう途中、人々がスーツケースをX線チェックをしてもらうために待っているのを見た。チェックイン前にするあれです。 それを見て、「あぁ、アメリカでは全ての人はあれをされなくてはいけないのか。」と思った。だがしかし、私にはそれは必要ない。だって、成田でもう既にやったのだから。
疑うどころか、寧ろ、「ここはひとつ、アメリカの平和維持に協力しようじゃないか。」と変な義務感満載。あほなことに、不必要なセキュリティチェックのために自ら長蛇の列に並んだ。これがまた、係員の動作が遅いったら...。 早く... 早く... 早よせえ!!!と心の中で叫んでいた。
いらんセキュリティチェックを終えた頃には、ワシントンDC行きの飛行機はもう既に行ってしまっていた。
わああぁぁ！どうすりゃいいんだ？！この時の私の状況はこの3猿に集約される。（英語が）聞きとれない、話せない、読めない。しばらくショックで動けなかった。
"Why don't you ask the check in counter?", Did you think so? If I had an enough English proficiency, I could do it soon, but all I could do was just standing and hovering around. I felt regret not going back with my husband. After a while, I dared to try asking the check in counter with short English words. "I..... missed...... the airplane..." It was only short wards, but it was very difficult for me. I couldn't catch what the staff was saying, but I was given a new ticket to Washington DC. After all, I could get to Washington DC quite late.
When I saw the beautiful scenery surrounded by forrest of Washington DC from airplane, it gave unspeakable relief to my heart and it reminded me about the last scene of one movie that survived soldiers in the cosmic space war, coming back to old dear Earth.

チェックインカウンターで聞いてみたら？ と思ったでしょう？十分な英語力があったらすぐにそれができたんでしょうね...。しかし、できることといったら放心状態で立ちつくす事とそこらをウロウロすることだった。こんなことだったら旦那と一緒に帰ってくればよかった。。 しばらく経ってラチが開かないことに気づいた。よし、思い切ってカウンターに尋ねてみよう。無い知識を総動員し、ようやく出た言葉は、「アイ ミスド ざ えあプレイン。」たったこれだけだが私には大変なことだった。 で、何言ってんだか分からなかったけど、新しいDC行きのチケットをくれた。結局、かなり遅れてワシントンDCに着く事ができた。
森に囲まれた美しいワシントンの景色が見えた時、言いようもない安堵感を感じた。と同時に宇宙空間での戦争を生き抜いた兵士達が、懐かしい地球へと帰って行くというとある映画のラストシーンを思い出させた。あぁ、やっと帰れたんだ...。
おしまい。
引っ張った割にはごちゃごちゃしてしまいました。すみません。まぁ要は、余計な事をことするな。乗り遅れてもあわてるなということです。

How to transfer in the U.S. from other country1. Go through the immigration formalities.
2. Pick up your baggage.
3. Go through the Custom
4. Check in at the check in counter.
5. Go to the departure gate.
アメリカでの飛行機の乗り継ぎかた。
1. 入国審査を受ける → 2. 荷物をピックアップする → 3. 税関を通る → 4. チェックイン手続きをする → 5.出発ゲートへGo
At first sight, it seems easy, but moving around in an unaccustomed place takes time than you expected, and if you didn't have enough time to transfer, it would make you more flurried. O'Hare International Airport is very large. I've heard that this airport is one of busy airports in the U.S. Indeed, there was a long line of people at the immigration counter. I did the process in the above, to No.3, so just do check in.
Now! let's go to the check in counter.

一見して簡単そうだが、慣れない場所で移動するということは思いのほか時間が掛かる。乗り継ぎに十分な時間がないと更に焦ります。シカゴ・オヘア空港はアメリカで多忙な空港の１つだと聞いたことがある。確かに、入国審査カウンターには長蛇の列ができていた。さて、上のプロセス３番までやったぞ。あとはチェックインするだけだ。
