DS-2019This is not "Nintendo DS" but a kind of certification document issued by US government.
DS-2019 shows that the person is approved by the agency or university which the person belonging to. The spouse also must have it.
So the residents in the US must show it with passport and the US visa when enter to America.
It's a very, very important document

所属する機関や大学などが留学者の受け入れを保証する書類で、その配偶者もその書類を持たなければなりません。米国居住者がアメリカに入国する際にはパスポート、ビザと共にこのDS-2019も提示しなければなりません。
とっても、とっても重要な書類なのです。
at Dulles Airport
One day at Dulles Airport, I had just come back to America from Japan alone.
I showed my passport with important documents at the immigration, but my DS-2019 seemed to have something wrong.
Officer: "Your DS-2019 has already expired!!"
eko: "What!!!!!!? expired????"
It can not be!!!
I have only one! I didn't know what happened.
Some staff at the airport came around me and talking something.
They told me that they can not allow me entering to America. and then.....
I was taken to the special room for interrogation.
I was wondering whether I was going to be arrested as an illegal immigrant.

ワシントン・ダレス空港にて。
一時帰国を終え、一人で日本からアメリカへ帰って来た時の事。
入国審査でパスポートと重要な書類を提示した。
しかし、、、私のDS-2019が何かおかしい様だ。
審査官：「アンタのDS-2019は期限切れだよ。」
私： 「えぇ！何だってえぇぇ！！！？」
そんなはずはないよ!!!
だってこれしか持ってないもの。何で？？？
なんか,,,, 空港のスタッフが数人私の周りに駆けつけてきた。。。
で、何か話している。。
そして、スタッフが私にこう言った。
「あなたの入国は認められません。」と。
私は、怪しき者を取り調べる為の取調室っぽい部屋へと連行された。
私、不法入国者として逮捕されるんだろうか.....。
