I was really surprised at the size, when I saw it at the first time. Look at the picture. It has 1 gal. (1 gallon= about 3.8l) Comparing to Japanese regular sized milk (1000 ml), it is almost 3 times.
In Japan, we can buy small sized milk at the grocery stores. The smaller milk I said, is 500 ml or so. As far as I know, no small sized milk in the US which is like a Japanese smaller one.
My friend told me that she was looking for small sized milk as same as Japanese one, when she had just moved to the US. It was hard to find it, but she finally found small sized.
She bought it and then drank it.
However,,,, it was not a milk, but a whipping cream. yeah, whipping cream also bigger than Japanese one.
American stores used to sell a pint of milk, which was a little less than 500ml, but I haven't seen that size in a while. You can still buy cream in that size, as your friend discovered by accident, but not milk. Probably the smallest size for milk these days is 1 quart, which equals 2 pints. And 1 gallon contains 4 quarts.
I don't know who can use a gallon of milk before it goes bad, except maybe a large family. I only buy a quart at a time, but usually I can't finish all of it before it turns sour. I really wish we still had pints of milk!
Yha yha yha …………・
We had to stay at the extendable hotel, when we visited to Los Angeles, because hotel fee was very expensive
When I did not go out for a restaurant, I usually had to cook a meal by myself.
I usually had to buy big bottle or two dozen small bottles, though it was short trip.
I remember that I drunk 500cc orange juice at every morning and night, though the taste was so-so.
I usually bought a half gallon of milk, when I was in the US.
Oh, American stores used to sell a pint of milk? I wonder if it was not so popular..?
Japanese milk contains 3.5% or 3.6% of fat, so I felt American milk was thiner than Japanese one, when I drank it at the first time.
I often went to Giant to buy food. It was really fan to see many kinds of food were sold.
We can get many kinds of bottle of tea easily at convenient stores in Japan, but it's really hard to get it in the US. If we go to Japanese shop, we may be able to get them, but.... it's a bit expensive...
500 ml of orange juice, every morning and night.... That's a tough experience.
I guess you missed the other one.
How are you doing?
Sugar
I lived in Rockville, MD for 3 years and half. Despite the fact I'm poor at English.... I try to write about memories of life in the U.S to practice English. Maybe you will find many mistakes on it, so please correct them!
