Yesterday..... I got my stomach checked up by endoscope. That's was painful.... I actually had been involved in a job to help patients who needed it at the hospital for a long time. I let them staying up with it saying, "Please don't move." or "Please relax!"
My result was nothing wrong, but..... It was a painful for me.... and I understood how painful feeling patients have from bottom of my heart. My face with tears and runny nose must have been very ugly. Anyway, please take care of your health!!

I used to have problems with my stomach and small intenstine, so I remember such tests very well. Even thinking about it again makes me cringe. I'm sorry you had to go through it, too, but I'm glad to hear you checked out okay.
Did you ever have to do a... hmm, I think the doctors in the US call it a "barium milkshake"? I have no idea what the Japanese term would be. The word "milkshake" makes it sound delicious, but it certainly isn't. ^^; It's a very thick, chalky syrup that can be seen with x-rays. Actually, it was pretty interesting watching the x-ray machine while the liquid went down into my stomach. It seemed like a commercial for Pepto Bismol stomach medicine, hehe...

I haven't had a test using some barium, but I had been involved in helping patients who needed it as a nurse. We call the test "Barium Zouei" or "Barium Kensa", only liquid is just called "Barium" "Zouei" means the test which uses contrast medium under the x-rai. "Kensa" means checking or testing.
"Barium milkshake".... sounds like yummy..., if I haven't known it yet. ^^; Yeah, barium has some tastes, banana flavor, strawberry flavor, chocolate flavor, something like that. It actually looks like a commercial for Pepto Bismol stomach medicine, as you said.
Thankfully, I haven't drunk it yet, but it must be far from good taste.
