I had been staying at my parents-in-law's house in Tokyo during my holidays. At that time, a Matsuri Festival was just held at a nearby shrine. This festival is held every 3 years. I'd like to tell you about the Matsuri festival I saw, today.
This Matsuri festival has been held to give thank to God from ancient time. Can you see the thing guys are shouldering in these pictures? This is called Mikoshi. We regard it as a ride for God. We should a Mikoshi to worship God when we have a Matsuri.
The festival had been held for 3 days. At the last day, feeling over the festival got to ran high. The last night at the festival especially climaxed. Mikoshi was enshrined at the shrine again and we will not able to see it until 3 years later.
Hello
It looks like very good Maturi of Japanese style.
Mikosi is carried by a track at our area these days.
Because, it is difficult to gather many young guys at Kyoto.
Your picture reminds me the Japanese soul from the bottom in my mind.
I would like to join the Maturi.
BTW. The parade is the representative mature style of Kyoto.
It is, if anything, refined style and elegant clothes.
And it is not same style to your photo.
Gion Maturi, Aoi Maturi and Jidai mature.
But, they have an each special point.
I like all Japanese Maturi.
See you! (^^)/
Hi, eko
You stayed at your parents-in-law's house during your holidays and could enjoy the Matsuri. It's good and important to keep Japanese culture from generation to generation.
BTW, this man is wearing a big tattoo like body suits. Japan is famous for its skill of tattoo among foreign people? Is that so? Are many American people interested in Japanese tattoo?
How are you?
It has been long time for me to see Mikoshi. I've heard that it's getting to difficult to gather many people for Mikoshi, but I saw many Mikoshi teams carrying it by turns.
When I heard of sounds of drums and flute, it got me excited.
As the movie I posted, the Mikoshi carried many people didn't look so heavy, but strangely, when the Mikoshi was carried without any shouting "Wasshoi!", it looked so heavy even many people carried. How wonder shout was.
Thank you for your comment!
According my husband this Matsuri hadn't been so big festival, but it seems to become bigger and bigger these days.
About tattoo, I've seen the TV program about Japanese style tattoo when I was in the US.
It's just my guess, but there are many people who are interested in it as a part of art.
I lived in Rockville, MD for 3 years and half. Despite the fact I'm poor at English.... I try to write about memories of life in the U.S to practice English. Maybe you will find many mistakes on it, so please correct them!
