I sometimes feel like driving in America still now.
Maryland has a richly nature, so driving there was so fun! A wide road. Animals beside the road. (I often saw some animals - raccoons, marmots, rabbits, deers, opossum and so on.) These things make me excited.
I remember going for drives like that...when I lived in Virginia. I live near Boston now, and the traffic sucks! No long drives for me (other than going to work)
I couldn't find any videos of what my commute looks like, but I did remember this video (I believe it's near Seattle, Washington)
Thank you for your comment. We had many snow days when I lived in Maryland. Especially 2002 and 2003 were terrible! My hometown in Japan doesn't have snow so much, so It was the first time for me to have a such experience. I guess that Boston is located in northern part of United States, so you would have snowfall days much more than DC area. Is it correct?
If I had an experience like this movie, I wouldn't feel like driving in the US again.... probably..
Sorry, but I have no videos of Japanese driving now. I'll check it up or I'll make it someday.
Oh, snow reminds me my mother's story.
She grew up the place where is known as heavy snowfall area in Japan. She told me that snow used to cover everything then the first floor was always covered with thick snow, so it was an usual thing to come and go from 2nd floor. The 1st floor had been closed for the winter.
Last winter, we got 123" (3.12 meters) of snow in total. It snowed 8 to 10 inches every week and we were running out of places to put it when removing it from roads and sidewalks. It never made it up to the second floor but I didn't see my fence for most of the winter.
I heard it's very hard to get a driver's license in Japan, is that true or is it just hard for Americans...because y'all drive on the wrong side of the road:)?
Hi,Eko
You made this movie by yourself! Amazing!!! I feel as if I were driving through Maryland. I know very well how you love America. A big American flag is fluttering in the movie.
Thank you for telling me about Boston's winter story, Greg.
Boston has really a lot of snows! I guess that it's difficult to remove thick snow. Snow season has come, so don't get a cold. ('v`)b
Getting a driver's license in Japan. .. hmmm ... it may be true for people who came from overseas. Actually, my friends who came from overseas used to say same thing.
I can understand that from bottom of my heart, because I was suffering from to get a driver's license in the US as well.
It's difficult for me to judge which more difficult it is, but a language's barrier bothers us.... ('~';) I guess you already know how difficult for me to get it was in the US. hahaha........
Thank you for your comment! I glad you had a good driving time with this movie.
American flag made me feel as if I was an American. I failed to get a driver's license many times in the US, so driving a car was really happy for me.
It takes about 5 hours to go to New York by car from Maryland. Joy filled my heart when I saw buildings in Manhattan from highway.
Hi Eko,
I'm not 100% certain, but isn't that the flag you see when driving past Gaithersburg? There's a car dealership near me which flies a huge flag close to 270. I'm not the most patriotic person, yet I can't help feeling a tug at my heartstrings whenever I see it waving proudly in the wind.
By the way, did you take that picture of the opossum? When I lived in Damascus, MD during my elementary school years, we frequently saw possums in our yard. They're rather ornery animals and some people think they're ugly, too, but I enjoyed seeing them, especially when a mother would have babies riding on her back.
Speaking of Damascus, we had one year when a blizzard piled snow up so high that we couldn't get out of our house or see anything through the windows. My grandfather and uncle had to come dig us out with a tractor. School was cancelled for more than a week, so once I could go outside I had a marvelous time digging tunnels and building igloos in the deep snow.
>isn't that the flag you see when driving past Gaithersburg? There's a car dealership near me which flies a huge flag close to 270.
Yes! That's right! It's near the car dealership you said. Oh, You live around there!?
That huge flag brought me a great heart when I past by car seeing the flag was waving majestically, though I'm not an American.
About opossum, it's not my picture, but it was transfered from other site.
I have seen it only 1 or 2 times during driving and it was just a short moment, but I was happy to see it. It was very exciting for me to see wild animals. If I have a chance, I'd like to see a mother possum have babies ridding on her back.
In 2003, It snowed hardly and I saw cards were buried entirely by heavy snow for the first time in my life in Maryland. I had no jobs at that time, so I had a good time in the snow like you. Your snow story brings a imagination that you had a great time in the winter wonder land, but then your grand father and uncle had a hard time at that time.
Anyway, be careful when you have to go out by car in the snow.
Of course, I want to drive a car by me too.
My friend wanted to drive a car by him in the USA too.
Sometimes, I got the side seat of the car in USA; and many times I had to get really fear.
Because, he drove on the opposite line many times, when he made a tune to the left.
Most dangerous experience was on the night; we needed about 5 minutes to realize our mistake.
We could realize our mistake by headlight of the oncoming car of same line.
I guessed that the driver of the oncoming car was really surprised too.
It was the truth story in 5 years ago. Now, I want to believe that my friend skill of driving was improved already.
But, if I visit my friend again, I say to him to ask that he change driving a car to other person.
BTW, if I want to drive, my friend demands that I change driving too.
Why the handle of the car is left side in the USA?.??????
Thank you for your mail. ohhh.... you had fearful experiences!! I'm relieved that you didn't have any car accident by it.
5 minutes.. I think it was too long time for driving on the opposite side lane.
I sometimes can't make sense which the passing lane is still now. Suddenly my old memory springs up my mind and it makes confused me.
I lived in Rockville, MD for 3 years and half. Despite the fact I'm poor at English.... I try to write about memories of life in the U.S to practice English. Maybe you will find many mistakes on it, so please correct them!
