Homemaker

HomemakerWikipedia says as follows,
Homemaker is a mainly American term which may refer either to:
1, the person within a family who is primarily concerned with the management of the household, whether or not he or she works outside the home.
2, a person whose prime occupation is to care for their family and/ or home.
My friend taught me this term and it has been preferred to housewife or househusband in America. I thought I got a good new knowledge.
Don't you think it's a very American notion that not be a slave of convention or gender like this?
Okay, I'll try using this term when I'm asked about me.
Homemaker とは、主にアメリカの用語で、家族内で家事に携わる人、または主に家族のお世話を職業とする人、すなわち専業主婦、または専業主夫のことを指す。
アメリカではHousewifeやHousehusbandという呼び名よりこのHomemakerの方が好まれるようになっていると友達が教えてくれた。なんだか、因習や性に捕らわれない、こういう観念はアメリカっぽいと思いませんか？
よし、いいこと聞いた。今度使ってみよう。
One day, at the bus stop. I was spoken to a old man.
He asked me about myself. I thought it was a good opportunity to use "that term".
M= Old man, E= eko
M "What do you do usually?" 「 普段何をやっているのかね？」
E "I am a homemaker. " 「私はhomemaker (しがない専業主婦）なんです。」
M "What is homemaker!!!? What do you do mainly as a homemaker?"
「ホームメイカーとは何かね!!? 主に何をやっているんだね?」
I felt the old man seemed to be excited.
E "Well....... cooking, washing, cleaning rooms, ,,, and eating snacks, watching TV, internet surfing, playing video games...."
「え〜と、 料理とか、洗濯、掃除.... お菓子食べたり、テレビ観たり、インターネット、テレビゲーム.... ですかね...。」段々とぐうたら生活が露呈してゆくなぁ....。 orz
I answered him what I usually did at home. (oh, how lazy my daily life is!) I was wondering why he was interested in housewife's work so much.
え、何でそんな事聞くんだろう...。 専業主婦の仕事って分かりそうなものなのにな。
取り敢えず、普段私がやっている事について答えた。
M "Great!!!!! will you come to my home?" "I have no family and it's difficult to live alone.!!"
What??? I couldn't understand why my lazy daily life was so great for him.
Perhaps......
He took "homemaker" as a kind of housekeeping work and he thought me a housekeeper. He kept talking with that gesture scrubbing his fingers - suggesting about money.
E "Oh, I'm really sorry!! a bus is coming!"
I jumped into the bus saying good-bye to him.
I was really really sorry him, but I couldn't help him, because I didn't have working permit....
My first trial that making myself understood in English using "homemaker" was failed.

よし、この覚えたての単語、Homemakerを使ってみよう。
でも何か会話が噛み合ない。
ひょっとして...
このおじいさん、homemakerを家事手伝いか何かの職業で、私を家政婦さんだと思っているようだ。。。おじいさんが言うには、独居で生活が大変だから身の回りのお世話を私に頼みたいと。。
ち、違うんですよ。私はただのぐうたら主婦であって、
ワーキングパーミットもありませんし、働けないんですよ！
ちゃんとした家政婦さんは仕事中に菓子食べたり、寝転んでテレビ観たりしませんよ。
何か、「お金」を意味する指を擦り合わせるジェスチャーしてる...。
困ったな...。お金払うから来てくれということかな...。
嗚呼、そんな希望に満ちた目で私を見ないでください。
大変申し訳ないんだけど、バスが来たので別れを告げその場を去った。
かくして、初めての試み、homemakerを使っての英語での表現は失敗に終わった。

I sometimes feel like driving in America still now. Maryland has a richly nature, so driving there was so fun! A wide road. Animals beside the road. (I often saw some animals - raccoons, marmots, rabbits, deers, opossum and so on.) These things make me excited.
今でも時々、アメリカで運転したくなる。 Marylandは豊かな自然があって、その中を運転するのは楽しい。 広〜い道。 道路脇にいる動物達。（あらいぐま、マーモット、うさぎ、鹿、オポッサムなどなど。。）わくわくするんだよな〜。

Yes We Can!I saw the historic moment to step toward new future. Although I'm not an American, I was impressed very much by the birth of new President Obama and power of a sense of identification by American people.
Right now, our country is under extraordinary situation that our leader throws out jobs only 1 year. I think politicians are nit picking each other all the time to save their position. we are really bored with it. I would like to have that sense of identification like American had....
Today, I'll give you Grand Tour to inside Capitol Hill.
新たなる未来へ踏み出す歴史的瞬間を見た。 私はアメリカ人ではないけれども、新しい大統領の誕生とアメリカの人々の一体感のパワーに感銘した。今、我が国ではリーダーが１年あまりで仕事を投げ出してしまう異常事態だ。なんだか政治家って自分の立場を守る為にあら探しばっかりやっているように感じる。国民放置で。
何だかあのアメリカの一体感がいいなぁと感じる。
