The biographies of heroes at Hanshin Tigers

A Hero came from America / タイガース助っ人外人英雄列伝I was surprised to know that a hero from America who used to play baseball at Japan's professional baseball team named Hanshin Tigers, became a Democratic State senator from Oklahoma. If you are a baseball fan, you'll be able to imagine easily who he is.
The hero is Randy Bass. He came to Japan in 1983, after played at Twins, Expos, Padres, Rangers, and so on. In 1985, he became a triple crown winner- it was the first time for foreign players in the Central league. He led Tigers to the victory that year after 21 years of the last champion.
The spectacular scene of 3 consecutive home runs by Bass, Kakefu, Okada, is very famous for us and I still remember it, although I was a child at that time. It is no exaggeration to say that he was the greatest Foreign Player in Hanshin Tigers.
He is also famous as a founder of the urban legend "Curse of the Colonel".

バースはカーネルサンダースの呪いの生みの親としても有名。一部の熱狂した阪神ファンがカーネル人形をバースに見立てて、わっしょいわっしょいと胴上げした後に、道頓堀へ放り込みカーネルおじさんは行方不明に。その後阪神が18年もの間優勝から見放されたのは、カーネルサンダースの呪いのせいだとファンの間で噂された。
