Long way to get a Driver's License 1 *Marijuana? Who is she?

 2007-10-18
I still brood over my failure... Talking of cars, I had a difficult time to get my driver's license. I suppose that the root of all evil was my poor English revel. level Untill I got my driver's license, I wept bitterly many times.....

Early summer 2002
We must take a knowledge test about alcohol and drugs before we take a road test in Maryland.
I thought thing would work out, but the real wasn't so easy for me.
First, I was handed a very thick text book by blunt black axaminer examiner and she said to us "Read it!" roughly. I was choked with many unknown English words. I couldn't get it at all.

I found many discriptions about "Marijuana" on it. As you know Marijuana is known as a kind of drugs. Because It was the first time for me to see the spelling, I took "Marijuana" for a woman's name which is a famous expert on drugs in the U.S.. I thought "Marijuana? Who is she?"

Besides, I couldn't stop my reckless misunderstanding. OK, I'll give you a question!
Q What is the most problem for drivers in the U.S.?

1, Alcohol and Drugs
2, Heart Disease
3, Colon cancer

Of course, the answer is No,1. It's easy. But, I couldn't seem to decide on which the answer is 2 or 3.is the answer 2 or 3. I dropped into deep thought as a nurse what medical problems in the U.S. is.
My answer was beside the point. Of course I failed to pass the test.

Someone said"No one fail fails to pass that test." But, I failed.... I wept bitterly.

If it makes you happy

 2007-10-13
Hello,
I found a movie about Rockville, Maryland on YouTube.
As this movie, Rockville is located on beautiful nature. The scenery is very familiar to me.
The movie brings me back old memories. 。・゚・(ノд`)・゚・。
Maybe the road where they are driving on around 2:07 is Rockville pike.
Besides, this song "If it makes you happy" by Sheryl Crow is awesome! Exactly, it makes me happy. Have fun!

The falls appeared on this movie are called Great Falls. It forms part of the borders between Maryland and Virginia. The name of this river is Potomac River. It runs through into WashingtonD.C..

I really love the scenery where the river runs through the region around Georgetown Universitiy in Washington D.C..

Here is the scenery around Georgetown University in Washington D.C.. I really love to see the scenery from George Washington Memorial PKWY.

Mad Scientist

 2007-10-11
May 2002

Cooking.. oh, cooking.. It is a great trouble for me how should I plan for every dishes.
I had never cooked for myself squarely, although I used to live by myself about 2 or 3 years. Because my job was hard work and the shift time was very irregular. (attributing my laziness)

Besides, American foods were a little bit strange. Extra large size milk, Low fat.. Low carb, despite the fact it was abundant. Colorful snacks and cakes... Cinnamon flavored TOFU??? What is this? How taste is it? What is artichoke? Where is sashimi!?
Unfamiliar foods made me more confuse. What's more, I didn't have enough cooking tools yet, like measuring spoon and measuring cup.

I tried cooking macaroni cheese kit (It is very easy to cook according to instruction.) It was the first dish in the U.S.. To cook without any measuring tools was very dangerous. Besides, reading instruction in English was a trouble job. I cooked it by the eye and faked up. The manual doesn't matter the most important thing is feeling!!

Finally, extremely strange dish was completed. The taste was.......
Just as my expected, It was horrible.... I don't have a talent as a woman, but I may have a talent for mad scientist. I suppose my skill of cooking is better than past.

2 days later that Nomikai, I left Japan alone, and started new life in the U.S.
As I expected, I took a lot of time for immigration formalities by my poor English.....

"Maryland welcomes you" from I-495 North

Maryland is located on the eastern coast of the U.S. The capital is Annapolis. The largest city is Baltimore. "Oh say can you see...." was written by Francis Scott Key at Ft. McHenry in Maryland. The climate of Maryland is for the most part warm and temperate. The western part of the state has more severe winter weather. Maryland has a lot of important agencies of the U.S.,FDA(Food and Drug Administration), NIH(National Institutes of Health) and so on.

Rockville

Rockville is the county seat of Montgomery County.
Rockville is located on a richly forested place. We can see many animals around there. Squirrels, raccoons, deers, and so on.
Our apartment was located on a quiet residential area near Rockville Pike. Many Asian residents lived there, mainly by Japanese, Korean, Chinese residents. I've ever heard that the apartment was called"Small Asian Village"
I was attracted the lovely nature as soon as I saw the scenery.

Good-by coworkers.

I'm home... I was very busy.. I had felt down for a few days, but I had a good thing today. Now I'm feeling better. Thank you so much! Well, may I continue?

May 2002

I quit my job. I had worked at that hospital for 6 years as a nurse.
Nursing is very hard job and our time schedule was horrible! We seldom had an enough time to rest during working. How crazy job it is! I thought it many times.
But, I always felt accomplishment. I owe it to my coworkers that I felt so challenging.
I appreciate that I worked at there with good friends and bosses.
We were chatting until mid night over sake on my farewell party. I wish I could have Nomikai (Drinking alcohol party )with them again!
I'll be back here as a nurse again! See you again at the same place!

Good news!

 2007-10-05
Let me tell about the current, today. I have a good news!
I got a call during my absence yesterday. It was from my Chinese friend who lives in the U.S.. She left a massage. I was very happy to receive her massage.
Sorry for my absence! I wish I could talk to you! 謝謝ni的電話!我想見ni!
( Thank you for calling! I want to see you. ,in Chinese, right? "ni" ="you")
Tell me about your latest and how about Cleveland!

Help me!!

 2007-10-04
Well, let me continue a talk that story.

We arrived at our apartment. Because I was very tired, anyway, I wanted to rest soon to heal fatigue by long trip.

He asked me to receive the parcel from USPS during his absence. And he added that
"Have the room key when you are going out, or you'll be locked out from the room."
You see, this room's door is closed automatically as same as some hotels.
I said to him "OK! I see. Consider it done!" don't worry about it! (´∀`)ノ
After that, the deliverer from USPS came. I was very nervous whether I could get it properly.
Although I was given some advice, I got it outside of the room without the key.
O-M-G-!! I was locked out from my room completely! As you know, I can't speak English at all. I didn't know what I should do..... I got lost. orz.... Help me!
I never dreamed I was in a trouble right after, although I had just arrived in the U.S.

I kept waiting for someone Japanese residents appeared at the entrance hall.
Perhaps,I was waiting for about 1~2 hours?? Fortunately, a Japanese family appeared, and then I asked for their help desperately.

Through their help, I could come back to inside the room again. I appreciate them.
I thought my life in the U.S. would be heading for trouble....

The first visiting to the U.S.

 2007-10-03
March 2002

Before I lived in the U.S. completely, I had a chance to visit the U.S. to meet him only 6days. It was the first time for me to visit the U.S.. It was very exciting.

My impressions about the U.S. were..... Big! Big! Large! Huge!.. Tall! ..sometimes fatty... Anyway everything was big I felt. I was astonished at interstate has many lanes. How exciting America is! I felt.

After that, little did I dream that I was in trouble a few hours later......

It was suddenly

February 2002

Suddenly, it was decided to live in America.

Because he decided to go study abroad to there. This "He" is my husband now.
I never dreamed of living in the U.S. in my life!!
Since everything was decided suddenly, we could't have enough time to talk each other about in the future. Even we couldn't have a time to hold our wedding ceremony in Japan. Anyway, it was so-----busy at that time!

The very next day we signed to the registration of our marriage, he left Japan a bit earlier, leaving me alone.

Now.... How should I do from now?
(;゚Д゚)I can't speak English at allーーー!!!

The first

Before getting into the main topic, let me mention what motivated me to produce this blog.

For the last few years,I have been wandering in a dim tunnel. I can't find a goal in my life. I sometime lose sight of my own reason of existence. After living in the U.S. for about 3years and half, I realized that the real world is harsher than expected, and I can't muster any motivation to do something, before seeking a goal. Maybe, I'm just escaping by attributing my idleness to the current situation, although there would be a lot of things I should do...

After living with such mentality for over one year, I thought I would be spoiled at this rate, and finally felt like doing something, It is to study English again.
I'm ashamed that my English proficiency is still poor although I stayed in the U.S. for quite a long time. In the U.S., I suffered from language barrier, and wept and got depressed many times. However, the things I obtained there are exciting and keep influencing me to a great degree, so as to compensate for the above-mentioned agony. I knocked a new door, while expecting that I may be able to find some clues by pursuing English.

The people I encountered there are all cheerful and have a good deal of knowledge and experience. It is very enjoyable to talk with them about various topics ranging from current events to complaints, and they sometimes invigorate me. It has been a long time since I chatted and laughed with someone so enjoyably. Thanks to them,it seems that what I want to do became clearer. They motivated me to produce this blog. I really appreciate them.

For your reference,"Rockville Pike" used in the title of this blog is the name of a road in Maryland, where I lived before. This road leads to my favorite "COSTCO" in the north direction, and to Washington D.C. in the south direction. Namely, this road leads me to my favorite places. I would like to proceed on this Rockville Pike, while appreciating all people I have encounterd so far, and seek the key to get out of the vacuous tunnel.
